7 - Most Underrated Bands (Oh man, the list for this question might get REAL long..)

/The Reptilian has to be the first band that I mention as being most underrated. They have been shaping the Midwest scene for quite some time. If one listens to The Reptilian’s discography, I think one will realize that the ‘sound of the Midwest’ which has gained so much popularity recently has a lot of direct ties to what this band has done over their entire career. It just sucks to see so many bands gain exposure and popularity from a type of sound that The Reptilian fostered, while they seem to get swept under the rug in comparison.

// I know a lot of people are not going to agree with me on this one..Tera Melos is highly underrated. Yes, they are quite well known. Especially in the ‘math rock’ scene. However, I feel that their following deserves to be much larger than it is. Tera are musical wizards who seem to be able to infuse any style or form of music together with such ease, despite it’s complexity. A lot of their stuff is really out there and weird. Okay, everything they do is really out there and weird. But that’s what makes them Tera Melos. That’s what makes them unique. I think too many people make a quick, biased decision on Melos because it’s not what they’re used to. People need to take the time to be more open minded towards them. Sometimes it takes a handful of listens to let their material sink in and actually begin to make sense to the listener.

8 - A Guilty Pleasure

The Weeknd. And I’m not ashamed. Not. One. Bit. Normally R&B does not tickle my fancy, but the Weeknd? God. Damn. He has the vocal talent of MJ with some heavy hitting bass to back it up. He is a goddamn studio genius. And his music is all I want on my ‘babymakin’ playlist’ when Alli and I are getting dowwwnnnn.
